Information
Carved by water over millions of years, the Siq winds between cliffs rising up to 180 m. Look for the water channels and remains of votive niches along the walls — evidence of Petra's sophisticated engineering and religious life.
How to visit
Walking the Siq takes about 20 minutes. Watch for horse-drawn carriages and uneven cobblestones. Best photographed in late morning when sunlight reaches the canyon floor.
